Good morning,
I’m delighted to present the new 1st team captaincy for the 23/24 season.
Huge thanks for Scott Johnson who has been our long-term captain since 2018 and has been integral to the development and success of the 1st team and ultimately the club over that period and I’m so pleased for him that he got to lift the Mid Sussex Championship trophy as our captain in the 21/22 season. Nick Walsh has been the recognised Vice Captain over a long period as well and with the full focus on his recovery from injuries and ensuring we can keep him fit, it seemed right to relieve him of that title so he can really focus on himself and keeping injury-free, getting a solid season under his belt.
Also a huge thanks to Max Bicknell and Callum Johnson who stepped in excellently at the back end of last season and led by example whenever they had the armband.
As you know, Bish has been coaching the side for the past year and already has an incredible amount of respect from the lads. His grit and determination on the pitch is an example to follow as well and I think he’ll make for an outstanding captain, transferring his coaching and leadership from the training ground onto the pitch on a Saturday. Chris Parsons has been Mr Reliable over the past year, with the joint highest apps and more starts than anyone else. He is always at hand to support with equipment, warm-ups, cool downs, coaching and has really matured in his own performances and leadership on the pitch. His transformation since his injury has been incredible and others look up to his dedication and the results he has had through his hard work. His commitment and dedication to RPFC and the ‘Step 6’ project is unwavering and I’ve no doubt will run through brick walls to get us there.
Congratulations fellas and please join me in welcoming Joe Elbishlawi and Chris Parsons as your new Captain and Vice Captain.
Dale Wyatt.
First Team Manager.
