Recap
Reigate Priory hosted Rotherfield at Park Lane on Saturday and after a slow start, fell behind midway through the half to a well-placed header from John Penny. Priory switched from a 4-3-3 to a 3-4-3 for the second half and seemed to get a better grip on the game and scored an equaliser on the hour mark.
A long throw from Callum Johnson fell to left-back Chris Parsons, who skilfully swivelled and volleyed into the top corner from close range. With twenty minutes remaining Priory won a free kick twenty-five yards from goal and right winger Max Bicknell fiercely curled the ball over the wall and into the top left corner for a spectacular winner. Priory rode their luck a little however when a twenty five yard Rotherfield freekick cannoned back off the underside of the bar and to safety, but the Reigate side hung on for the three points, Manager Dale Wyatt had this to say, ‘That was a hard-fought three points! Rotherfield are a tough side to break down and it took a really classy turn and finish from Chris Parsons before an absolute worldie of a strike from Max Bicknell. We’ll work throughout the week this week to establish how best to try and break them down as we face them again this weekend, but credit to the lads for finding a way’.
