Recap
Reigate Priory demolished bottom of the league Willingdon in a 6-0 rout on Saturday. Priory sped into the lead within ten minutes through a James Bolton opener; his fourth goal in three games came when latching onto a rebound from a Shane O’Keeffe attempt at goal. The lead was doubled just before half-time in comical fashion when Max Bicknell fired a corner into the near post, only for the Willingdon keeper to punch into the crotch of his own defender which rebounded into the back of the net. The lead was further extended in the second half through an acrobatic effort from veteran Dave McLaughlin for three. Shane O’Keeffe’ went on a mazy run bumbling past four defenders to touch home for four, Marcus Best-Osborne tapped in a rebound from his own shot and then O’Keeffe got his second making it six with a header from a Chris Parsons corner. Arguably the best goal of the game was sadly ruled out for offside as a wonderful team move down the right hand side involving Declan Smith, resulted in a clean strike fired into the far corner by Marcus-Best Osborne. The action-packed game also saw a sin bin for each side and a red card for Willingdon. Manager Dale Wyatt said: “It’s a much nicer journey home when you come away with not just a strong result but a performance to go with it. But for a 20 minute period after scoring our first goal, we dominated the game and created lots of chances whilst restricting Willingdon to just one half-chance all game. We need to take this form into an incredibly tough fixture against the league leaders next week now”.
