First Team vs Willingdon Athletic
|4 Feb 2023
Reigate Priory first team hosted bottom of the league Willingdon at Park Lane on Saturday. The visitors were without a single point this season yet managed to take a shock lead with a close range volley finish from their skipper midway through the first half.
Priory had plenty of chances but both Callum Johnson and Max Bicknell were wasteful in front of goal in the first half. On the hour mark substitute Shane O’Keeffe’s tame shot crept in to the corner to put the Reigate side level.
Priory continued to create chances but were unable to get the winner and had to settle for a disappointing point. Manager Dale Wyatt commented; “credit to Willingdon, when they took the lead they really had something to fight for and they put bodies on the line to earn themselves their first point of the season. From our perspective, it really is a reality check and I’m bitterly disappointed with our first half display in particular, which just left us with too much to do in the second half”.
