Recap

Reigate Priory travelled to fellow mid-table side Lindfield on Saturday and raced into the lead in the first minute with a well struck twenty-five yard free-kick by Josh Wille.

Priory doubled their lead after twenty-five minutes when a penalty was awarded for an off the ball incident involving centre back Nick Walsh. Joe Elbishlawi confidently despatched the penalty.

Lindfield pulled one back five minutes before the break with a close range header and equalised early in the second half when Priory were caught in possession in their own box trying to play out from the back. With 15 minutes remaining a breakaway from the home side resulted in Lindfield’s forward rounding Priory teenage goalkeeper Jacob Terry and turning the ball into the empty net for 3-2.

Priory Manager Dale Wyatt commented: “It was always apparent that today was going to be a game of two halves considering the slope on the pitch. We knew when the opposition changed ends for the first half we would have to capitalise on it and kill the game off by half time, or we would quite literally be facing an uphill second half. Unfortunately we weren’t clinical enough and conceded a somewhat dubious goal just before half-time. Credit to Lindfield though who showed great character to come from two behind and really capitalise on our mistakes.”.
